Angela Mikes, CNM

Born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, I left for college after graduating high school at the age of 18 and attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where I achieved a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing in 2006. From there, I joined the Army and served as an active duty officer for eight years as a labor and delivery nurse. I was honorably discharged in 2014 with the rank of Captain. I fell in love with women’s healthcare during my time in the Army, leading me to obtain my Master’s Degree in Nursing with a concentration in Midwifery in 2015, followed by a Doctorate’s in Nursing Practice in 2016. I completed both my Master’s and Doctorate’s at Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, located in Kentucky.

After completing my advanced degrees, I returned to active duty in 2017 by joining the US Air Force where I served women and families for three years and achieved the rank of Major. I was honorably discharged in 2020 and began working in the private sector here in Las Vegas. In addition to my work of serving women in my community, I am a professor at Grand Canyon University where I teach obstetrics. During the 18 years I have spent serving my country, women, and families, I also took the time to grow my own. I married my high school sweetheart in 2006 and we have been together for 23 years. We have four amazing children, two girls and two boys, and two cats.

I offer care to all women throughout the lifespan and as a researcher, I always practice evidenced based-medicine coupled with shared decision making. I am a certified Centering Pregnancy provider, childbirth educator, surgical first assistant, and a Resolve Through Sharing clinician for those who experience fetal loss. When I am not serving my community or teaching, I enjoy doing hot yoga, gardening, crafting, hiking, and traveling across the country/world with my family.
